Common questions

Do churches have to file a Form 990?

No. Churches and their integrated auxiliaries are exempt from filing Form 990. HookBooks knows that when you mark your organization as a church, and still gives you the board reports you need.

What does a year-end giving statement need to say?

For gifts of $250 or more, the IRS requires a written acknowledgment with the amount and a statement of whether any goods or services were given in return. HookBooks puts that wording on every statement.

Can volunteers help without seeing everything?

Yes. Give a volunteer bookkeeper or a finance committee member their own sign-in with bookkeeper or view-only access.

We use an online giving platform. Does that work?

Yes. Deposits from giving platforms come in with your bank statement, and a rule can code them to the right giving account every time.
